Solar Eclipse Viewing Party

Date/Time
8/21/17, 11:30 am - 1:15 pm
Seward Memorial Library

Come watch the solar eclipse at the library! This viewing party will be geared towards preschool-aged children and their families but anyone from the community is invited to attend! Registration is required.

The festivities start at 11:30 and will include a mini Story Time, crafts, and game stations related to our amazing solar system! The Friends of Seward Library will serve a free lunch of hot-as-the-sun dogs, Sun Chips, Sunny Delight, and a special eclipse Sundae. Activities will take place both inside the library and in the west parking lot which will be blocked off from traffic. Please bring your own lawn chair or blanket.

The partial eclipse will begin around 11:36 a.m. and will continue until the sun is totally eclipsed around 1:01 p.m. The total eclipse in Seward should last around 1 minute and 35 seconds. Special eclipse viewing glasses will be available to help those in attendance to safely watch this exciting event. After the total eclipse is done the formal activities at the library will be over but anyone is welcome to stay and continue to watch as the sun goes through a partial eclipse phase again.

Registration is now closed. We have reached maximum capacity for the free lunch. You are still welcome to attend the event without registering but you will not receive lunch. Solar viewing glasses MAY be available but are not guaranteed for those who did not pre-register.
