Presentation by the sculptor of the William H. Seward Statue

Date/Time
7/3/18, 1:30 pm - 2:30 pm
Seward Memorial Library

Seward Memorial Library will host two important visitors from New York on Tuesday, July 3 at 1:30 p.m. Sculptors David Rubin and his sister Judith will travel to Seward, NE to deliver a statue of William H. Seward. David Rubin created a statue of this significant statesman for Juneau, Alaska. While it was being transported to its home, the statue made a short visit to our town last summer. The statue was so well received that soon the sculptors were contacted and the process began to create another figure. Rubin agreed to replicate the William H. Seward for the downtown square. As stated by Rubin, “The Statue of William H. Seward’s welcoming hand gesturing toward the Seward County Court House acknowledges and promotes the place of government in a community, a state, a country especially pertinent and meaningful on a 4th of July celebration!” Residents of all ages (including school-age children) are invited to hear the story of how our new statue was created, journeyed across country and settled on the Courthouse lawn. Welcome our newest Seward resident!
