Retirement Farewell Message from Director Becky Baker.

In just a few days, I will no longer be the Library Director, but the former Library Director. After 45 years at the Seward Library, I am retiring!

It has been an incredible career—one I have thoroughly enjoyed, largely because of the wonderful people I have had the privilege of meeting along the way. Whether I’ve gotten to know you while helping you at the front desk, recommending a great book, sharing a book group discussion, or through one of the many other ways people connect with the library, thank you. You have made my time here truly meaningful.

As I think back over these 45 years, I would love to hear your library memories. Did you or your children attend story time? Were you part of the human chain that passed books from the Carnegie Library to our new building in 2003? Did the library help you become a reader or introduce you to a favorite book, author, or lifelong interest?

Please share your memories by emailing info@sewardlibrary.org, or bring them in person to my farewell party on Friday, August 28, from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm in the Lower-Level Conference Center. Come enjoy some cake, spend time with fellow library patrons, and celebrate the library that all of you have helped make possible.

After the “official” send-off, family and friends are invited to continue the celebration at Sparetime Lounge. Mojo Filter will be playing from 7:30 pm – 10:30 pm, making the end of my library career even more memorable.

Please come help me celebrate this wonderful chapter—and set me off on the next one!
