About the Presentation
Led by Dr. M. DeWayne Mays and William Arfman, co-chairs of the Truth and Reconciliation History Project, this engaging presentation dives into the history, perspectives, and ongoing impacts of racism in Nebraska. Grounded in research and community advocacy, the session is designed to offer practical lessons, explore differing viewpoints, and open up vital opportunities for constructive dialogue.

Meet the Presenters
Dr. M. DeWayne Mays: President of the Lincoln Branch of the NAACP and a retired soil scientist with a Ph.D. from UNL, Dr. Mays brings decades of leadership in community engagement, racial justice, and public service across Nebraska.
William "Bill" Arfmann: Representing Nebraskans For Peace (Lincoln), Bill is a dedicated community advocate whose work focuses on peacebuilding, civil rights education, and fostering collaborative dialogue across diverse groups.
