History is not just found in textbooks—it is buried right in our local soil.

July 30 at 6:30 PM, take a fascinating journey back through time to explore the thousands of years of human history in Nebraska prior to the arrival of Euro-American settlers. We are thrilled to welcome archaeologist Nolan Johnson from the Nebraska State Historical Society for a special presentation.

He will guide us through the distinct eras of Nebraska's past, showing how prehistoric lifeways shifted from nomadic hunters to established river valley villages and powerful horse nomads. Through the clues they left behind—like unique settlement patterns, ancient tools, and plant remains—you will get a rare, vivid glimpse into ancient daily life on the plains.

Humanities Nebraska (HN) provides major funding for this program. HN receives support from the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Nebraska State Legislature, the Nebraska Cultural Endowment, and private donations.
